Since its inception, SGI has been built on the concept of providing unsurpassed quality service and a friendly and time-tested approach to business.

The company and its subsidiaries have strictly abided by this ideology, striving for nothing less than perfection. Taking this ideology to heart, SGI’s strategy is focused-on further developing strengths, resolving weaknesses, making the most of opportunities and steering clear of threats. SGI prides itself on its slow and strategic growth always testing every move cautiously and analyzing every step thoroughly.

Each addition to the group is serving its carefully planned purpose and fitting impeccably in its designed place. SGI’s long-term business strategy includes further expansion nationally and internationally. On the international level, the group plans to enter booming emerging tourism markets with future development plans in China and Eastern Europe.
The Beginning

It all started in 1972 when an Egyptian family business created a tourism portal ... that is when Sakkara Tours was born to be the cornerstone of Sakkara Group International (SGI).

Turning Point

1978 ushered in an evolution in the company’s strategy as SGI and STI Voyages formed a strategically planned partnership. Relying on the success of Sakkara Tours and the experience gained in the tourism field, STI Voyages was the perfect choice for business co-operation.

On The Rise
  • Following the partnership with STI Voyages, the company experienced an immense upsurge in travelers from France, prompting SGI to further expand its scope. As the next step in SGI’s development, the company created a transportation department and increased its staff to handle the extensive new business generated by STI Voyages.
  • Subsequently, SGI expanded its portfolio with hotel developments. In 1981, the group launched its first urban hotel, Sonesta Cairo, managed at the time by Hyatt Hotels.
  • On the international level, Sakkara Tours diversified its market reach to include several countries, including France, Belgium, Japan, China, USA, UK, India and Russia.
Spreading Out
  • In 1989, SGI launched its first Nile cruiser, Nile Goddess, followed by Nile Dream and Lady Diana in 1992.
  • To further augment the successes attained from the STI Voyages partnership, STI Travel USA was launched in 2004 followed by STI UK, STI India in 2007. Central Holidays Travel Group in 2012 and Mosaic Holidays, its most recent acquisition in 2014.
